Recently, the
LA Times ran an
interesting story about legendary sports writer Frank Deford. From what I've heard and read of his work, Deford does indeed have a way with words. He is also, unfortunately, one of the first rate soccer bashers in the United States. A more genteel Jim Rome, I suppose. So it was nice to see Deford taken down a peg or two by the writer of this article who confronted Deford with numerous inaccuracies and contradictions in his writing.
