There is a very interesting column from Slate today that
examines why the conservative reaction to the recent pronouncements of the Massachusetts Supreme Court borders on hysteria. Specifically, it contends that the "once gay marriage is legal in one state all states will have to recognize it" argument is probably based more on bigotry and politics than a close reading of the Constitution. But since when did that get in the way of a good wedge issue?
