A couple of my fellow bloggers have already mentioned that it's Banned Books Week. I don't have much to add, except to note that Time has put together a pretty good list of ten "of the most challenged books of all time." It's not a rigorous statistical analysis, but it's a pretty good list nonetheless:
- Candide, by Voltaire
- The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain
- Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley
- 1984, by George Orwell
- The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger
- Lolita, by Vladimir Nabokov
- I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou
- The Anarchist Cookbook, by William Powell
- The Satanic Verses, by Salman Rushdie
- Harry Potter . . ., by J.K. Rowling
