GOP Loses War on Terror

It's official: the Republican party has lost the War on Terror. Word comes from none other than Senate Majority Leader (and Presidential hopeful) Bill Frist who says it's time to make peace with the Taliban and bring them back into the Afghani government. Great! All that time, effort, and money (not to mention lives) that we've wasted in Iraq running after phantom WMDs could have been at work in Afghanistan hunting down the Taliban. Remember them? The ones who actually were involved with Al Qeada? Way to go, GOP.

UPDATE: Frist cries bullshit, saying he didn't actually say what is attributed to him in the article, but it seems like a lukewarm denial at best.

As to the question from jedi jawa in Da Kron: yes, they do think you're that stupid. Prove them wrong, Ohio!

And yet, they're making it sound like this is a new development. Like somehow they brought about this finding, and it's all part of the original plan.

I think an "oops, my bad" is in order.

Up here in Da Kron we have incumbent US Senator Mike DeWine (R) trying to hold his seat against challenger US Representative Sherrod Brown (D).

Recently, DeWine has started to run some shameless commercials where he accuses Brown of being in a very slim minority who refused to vote for the USA PATRIOT Act and that by doing so he was showing that he didn't want to make America safer. What a load of shit! I mean, does he think that people are that dumb? Even hard core conservatives have come out and said that the USA PATRIOT Act should never have been passed the way that it was and many have admitted not really reading it but just passing it as a knee jerk reaction. It has to be the single most controversial piece of legislation in the last decade if not longer and this clown is going to try to pass it off as a simple "let's make us safer" bill?

I don't get politicians.

Okay rant over.

I was reading somewhere recently, maybe the wikipedia, that DeWine is perceived as a weak party link in the U.S. Senate and is literally fighting with his back to the sea. Maybe this is truly a desperation ploy.

Perhaps his next commercial will have him questioning the patriotism of his rival. Oh wait ... I forgot that HE ALREADY DID THAT after a fashion. Check it out. Ugh.
