The Sentinel, by Pallas (1984): There's been a debate raging on the Marillion mailing list this week about Marillion's place in the "prog" pantheon. In the process, one of the genre's detractors bemoaned its penchant for widdly keyboard bits and overly dramatic lyrics/vocals. Probably, what he had in mind, was stuff like Pallas. Pallas, from Scotland, was one of the original neo-prog bands, but never really broke out like Marillion or IQ. In all honestly, The Sentinel, at least, is pretty paint-by-numbers and hardly original. It borders on cheezy in spots, but never really crosses over. Not the tip top example of the genre's best, but it's a good listen, none the less.
